چکیده

The optical model potentials for nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering at 65 MeVtiple scattering theory, following the prescription of the spectator expansion, where the only inputs are the free NN potentials, the nuclear densities and the nuclear mean field as derived from microscopic nuclear structure calculations. These potentials are used to predict differential cross sections, analyzing powers and spin rotation functions for neutron and proton scattering at 65 MeV projectile energy and compared with available experimental data. The theoretical curves are in surprisingly good agreement with the data. The modification of the propagator due to the coupling of the struck nucleon to the residual nucleus is seen to be significant at this energy and invariably improves the congruence of theoretical prediction and measurement.

I discuss three issues relevant to solar neutrino flux measurements: cross section uncertainties in pp chain reactions, uncertainties in the GALLEX/SAGE response to 7 Be and 51 Cr neutrinos, and the implications of helioseismology for nonstandard suns with mixed cores. A few comments are also offered on νe ↔ ντ oscillations, cosmologically interesting neutrino masses, and recent proposals for s...

Extensive systematizations of theoretical and experimental nuclear densities and of optical potential strengths extracted from heavy-ion elastic scattering data analyses at low and intermediate energies are presented. The energy-dependence of the nuclear potential is accounted for within a model based on the nonlocal nature of the interaction. The systematics indicates that the heavy-ion nuclea...

The Baldin sum rule for the nucleon has been recalculated at the light of the most recent photoabsorption cross section measurements. The proton value (α + β) p = 13.69 ± 0.14 is smaller but consistent with the one usually quoted in literature. However, the value for the neutron (α + β) n = 14.40 ± 0.66 turns out to be three standard deviations away from the previously calculated one.

Through the triple–alpha process practically all of the carbon in our universe is synthesized as the ash of helium burning in red giants. The triple–alpha process proceeds trough the ground state of Be and though the 02+–state in C. We investigate the dependence of 02+–state and the production of carbon as a function of the strength of the underlying nucleon–nucleon interaction. This is perform...
